Duplex Conversion From an Existing Single Family Home

This single family home was converted to a duplex via a full renovation and addition. Originally a cape cod styled cottage, the home was split down the middle and converted to a duplex. In addition to the transformation of use, the home underwent a stylistic transition to reflect the more Nordic and Scandinavian design influences that Minneapolis has to offer. 

 

Although each unit is an ample 1,300 square feet, the existing street presence of the home reflects the small and proportional scale of the existing cottage. Side by side, the units are both 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, and 2 stories with additional space/rooms in the basement.

The design brings out the eclectic side of Scandinavian design with custom tile work, vertical interior slats for separation, and boxed wood trim around the windows.
