New Construction ADU

This attached ADU was designed and built by HyR. Located in Bloomington in a quiet neighborhood, the clients wanted a place where their mother could actually come and live with them. Thus, an attached ADU was designed to allow for separation while also keeping family close. The ADU takes advantage of the scenic and beautiful views of the lake that the the home backs up to. With only 550 square feet to work with, the ADU has one bedroom, one bathroom, and an open kitchen and living area.

The design fuses seamlessly with the existing home and is not visible from the street. This allows the existing fabric of the neighborhood to remain in tact and keeps the ADU private. Full glazing on the eastern façade allows maximum views, incredible natural light with low solar heat gain, and complete privacy from the neighbors. Modern touches in the kitchen and flooring provide a nice transition to the classic styling of the home.
